Jódís' first litter from 2016 has turned out so well and has shown good results in health, mentality and exterior, so now is the time for another round.
Jódís herself is a tricolor with a nice and feminine face.
She is a loving and attentive family dog and she raised her last litter with skill and love, right in the living room, where we, as a family with children, are busy – talking, singing, sometimes arguing, dropping things, listening to music and television, playing games etc.
Jódís has A-hips (and parents/grandparents with A-hips) and eyes free from inheritable eye diseases.
She is exhibited once, with the result *Very good*
You will find lots of pictures and movies with Jódís on this page and on the dogs' Facebook page , which you are welcome to follow
And then for the exciting choice of mate:
This time, with the help from the Danish breeding committee, I got in contact with Dutch Coen Huisman and Linda van Andel, who made this very interesting project of mapping the genetic diversity of the Icelandic Sheepdog (see their informative webpage )
They suggested a number of males as excellent choices - and still bearing in mind, that the health and mind are to me most important and that I naturally wish to breed within the standard of the race , I then decided to travel to the Netherlands to meet with a most beautiful Dutch *dark green* male, who matches Jódís in all conceivable areas: Health, mind, exterior and, not least, genetics.
To those interested in breeding for genetic diversity, I can inform, that Jódís herself is light green with low numbers, which will let the puppies become dark green with a MK of 18,43.
Surtur, in daily talk Kjói, is a friendly and happy red male, with A-hips (and parents/grand parents with A-hips), eyes free, exhibited as both a young dog and an adult with the result Excellent and best in both sex and race. He has a very fine mental description and has one litter in The Netherlands. He is a son of the wonderful Gíslí Pállson frá Olafsfjordur.
Surtur's judgement from his adult exhibition:
"1.5 years. Good size, well developed, shaped head with good expression. Dark eyes. Good skull. Well-placed ears. Nice neck and overline. Good tale fur. From the front: Well-shaped cat feet, well angled, good movements. Double wolf claws at the back, single front.
Good coat structure and pigment. Scissor bite. Friendly and happy.
* Excellent *, best male dog, best in breed. "
